This 1920's treasure holds nearly 100 years of special memories for our family. It has recently been lovingly renovated and restored and is very comfortable. Much of the original shiplap, beaded-board, and heart pine floors have been retained and restored, as well as much of the original exterior and front porch. There are two bedrooms downstairs, as well as two baths. Upstairs offers a loft play area and a small bedroom with two twin beds. This House is Amazing! 1st Built by an Attorney for entertaining in the late 40's it still has all its charm. Its former owners include an Oil Field Executive, the last owner - a Surgeon, and now Me! HGTV's HomeTown featured this amazing house in their 1st season. It was not chosen for a remodel (Thank you Lord!) I absolutely Love this house as it is.... and I'm not the only one! When it wasn't chosen for the remodel, the Producer of the show decided to rent it for the season, prior to my purchasing this Laurel Treasure. This house is booked by folks for a number of reasons: 1. Medical Students - in town to complete required in hospital studies 2. Pharmacists in training - in town for on job studies 3. Engineers - for work that may last 2 weeks - 2 years 4. Police Academy Students - for the 6 week course 5. Contractors - for work that may last a week to 6 months 6. Tourists to Laurel to check out our quaint lil Town - 2 - 7 nights 7. Family that left home and returns for visit 2 - 14 nights 8. Family in town to assist parents with medical issues, 4 nights - 2 months 9. Love - with the dating sites becoming more popular, I’ve even had guests come to stay while courting or being courted 10. Fishing / Hunting - poplar in this area, I’ve had travelers who have come for the local Outdoor life The travelers to this property are as unique as the property. Its been a pleasure to host each and every one of them. I hope to count you in that group. The house is located on a corner lot, sharing a back alley with only 1 other house. Guest's will park in assigned parking on a parking pad, just off the alley and enter into the fenced, gated yard. Then go up a concrete ramp and enter the back yard. Full of landscaping where there is almost always something in bloom. The concrete path will take Guests around the inviting 40' x 20' in ground pool, to the rear door of this Amazing, Private, Home. Where a lock box to enter the back door, into the Kitchen, can be found. There are 2 doors accessible to Guests in the kitchen, one leads to the formal dining room and the other to the hall foyer. At one end of the hall is the 1/2 bath and the other will take Guestsy to the stairs, front door, or Great Room. The Great Room offers a Big Screen TV with lots of premium Direct TV channels, warm hardwood floors, cozy furnishings and a large glass table for entertaining or work. Up the stairs are 3 bedrooms, all with hardwood floors and closets. The Master has a full private bath with shower stall, and the other two bedrooms share a comfortable larger full bath. Each bedroom has a TV with a firestick or roku and Netflix account pre-entered. Each bedroom also has a window unit. The house is equipped with a 5 ton AC/Heater unit, but as the Owner, I love the hum of a window unit, the instant cold, and have heard, folks need it just a little cooler to get a good nights sleep, so these are provided. The Master and 2nd largest bedrooms each have a King size bed and the 3rd bedroom offers a Full over Full bunk bed. At maximum, capacity, in beds, counting 2 in the bottom Full bunk, 1 on the top bunk, and 2 in each of the King beds, the house will sleep up 7 people. In the Great room (main floor) there is also a futon, so including this ... there could be as many as 9 overnight guests. There are a few areas not described above that are off limits and locked up. They mostly include closets but also include the sun-room with a private entrance. In addition, there is a two car Garage off the alley. One side of the Garage is a Laundry Room. Guests are given access to the laundry room. It has 1 washer and 1 dryer, both are coin operated. Rates are based on: 1. 4 or less Guests and the 2 bedrooms with king beds being used & 1 off street parking spot. 5 or more people and the bunk bedroom is opened and if needed, 2 off street parking spots will be provided. 2. 4 or more nights being booked. A shorter stay is permitted but rates may be slightly higher for stays of less than 4 nights. 3. No Pets. If you’ve pets, please inquire on the per pet, Pet Fee. Pet Policy must also be adhered to. 4. No Visitors unless in people count Each stay is different, so if you’ve planning on visitors, don’t book before getting prior authorization. 5. If Visitors are approved, pool parties and events are not. Pool is for the sole use of those booked to stay on the property. 6. There is a $400 REFUNDABLE deposit that will be collected prior to arrival for stays that are less than 14 nights. $800 for stays 14 - 30 nights. Over 30 nights? $1200 REFUNDABLE deposit. 7. Generally, bookings for less than a 7 night stay are accepted 30 days before an available date. Peak Season March - July, less than 7 night stays are accepted 60 days before an available date. A few things Travelers should know: 1. The swimming pool is open Mid April - Mid October. There were 2 choices for the pool in amenities, Communal (used by the entire community of Laurel) or Private. I checked Private, but a better description is "Shared" if rented, with the Cottage Guests and if rented, with the Efficiency Guests 2. Mid to Late October, after the 1st cold spell, the pool is covered 3. There is a basement efficiency apartment that has its own separate, on the outside of the house, entrance and is not accessible from the interior of the house or vice versa. 4. This basement apartment is also listed on this listing site and infrequently rented as it is best suited for 1 person, staying more than 14 nights. Usually to someone working in the Laurel area for a brief period of time. 5. Owner is rarely in town, often just for a day trip, but when an overnight stay is required, the Basement apartment is where she stays. 6. Routine property maintenance is done regularly, from pool care to lawn care. Unless an emergency, repairs and more major maintenance is done off season or when guests are likely not be using the pool. 7. Across from the Main House, over the 2 car garage, is a small Cottage, perfect for a couple, that also available for short term rentals, and may be rented during your stay. 8. Each property, the Main House, The Cottage, and the Basement Efficiency are private individual areas, with assigned parking, all with use of the Laundry facilities in the Garage, the grounds, and swimming pool. 9. Children are not allowed in the swimming pool unsupervised. Pets are not allowed outside on this property, off leash, unless in the large dog pen. Dogs are the only Pets to ever be permitted. 10. Each property is no smoking. 11. Visitors are not permitted unless approved before booking, in writing. 12. Parking is limited, please disclose if you require more than 1 parking spot, prior to booking. Street parking is available. 13. Your cleaning fee covers a starter supplies, to make your arrival comfortable: Each Bathroom will have 2 Rolls of Toilet Paper House will have 1 Paper Towel Some Hand Soap will be at each sink Some Dish washing Detergent will be Kitchen sink Some Dish Detergent for Kitchen sink 14. Visitors are not generally not permitted. Please inquire if you plan to have visitors, include the people count. As I'm sure you would not want the Cottage or Apartment guests to entertain not booked visitors (strangers), during your stay, around and in the pool, we ask the same of the Main House Guests, ideally no visitors but absolutely no visitors using these common areas. 15. Starter Supplies, the consumables left for guests are: 1 roll of Toilet Paper on roll (may be partially gone) and 1 complete roll under the sink for each bathroom 1 roll of Paper Towels in the Kitchen some Dish washing detergent for the sink some dish washing detergent for the dishwasher Hand soap and every sink I’ve tried to anticipate any question and fully disclose the property. I would say that despite there being the cottage and basement apartment, its pretty cool. Other travelers like yourself or locals coming home for a visit. Sometimes folks displaced by a tornado on an extended stay while there home is repaired or medical student on a tour of duty. All with interesting stories enjoying the accommodations they’ve booked.. Interaction is rare and when it happens, the conversation is always good. "The Laurel Rabbit Hole" is basement efficiency apartment. It is one of 3 rentals on this property, the Main House and a stand alone Cottage, are the other 2 properties. While the Basement Apartment is in the basement of the main house, the guests in the main house do not have access to the Basement, it has its own private entrance. The property has a private swimming pool. Well, Private for those booked in the Basement, Cottage, or House anyways. "The Laurel Rabbit Hole" is perfect for 1 or 2 Adults, on an extended stay with a tight budget. It is not suitable for children or those who are mobility challenged. Pets are not allowed at this rental, but are allowed at my other 2 rentals. My Ideal booking, is: ~ 1 person or a quiet couple who book for a month or longer. Although in this scenario, I'd advise, booking a week or two to check out the place 1st and then booking an extended stay. I only book my Laurel Properties on Listing Sites. That said my preferred site to book through is VRBO or HomeAway. They just make things easy. Please see the detailed Rental Agreement which contains a lot of information on the property. I've posting a few Photos of the basement as it appeared before putting furniture in it as it is not an easy area to photograph. My 1st booking getting ready to move out at end of August 2020, is a single lady, who initially stayed in my cottage and asked if I knew where she could find a more economical place to stay from the end of April through August. Its been a monthly rental for each of those months and each month she choose to extend her stay, for a total of a lil over 4 months. This Property, the entire house, was featured the 1st year of the hit HGTV show, Hometown, as one of two properties for the buyers to choose to purchase and renovate. The buyers choose another house, but the Producer of the show was so impressed with this property, that she rented it for season. Since then I've purchased this amazing home and for those traveling to Laurel, needing an affordable long term option, I'm offering this lil gem. Apartment 406. This is a hidden gem in downtown Laurel within walking distance to a lot of the homes and businesses featured on HGTV's Home Town. I cannot disclose addresses or locations of houses, but for you HGTV fans walk through the area and see how many you can spot. This apartment is located in one of the oldest apartment complexes in downtown Laurel (and is going through a major renovation). This apartment is one of the newer renovations on the complex. The apartment is designed with relaxation in mind and the home decor is sponsored by HAND+made (DIY retail experience, www.handmadelaurel.com) where you can also purchase several of the items if you like. The signs are actually manufactured by Clairmont and Co which is also in downtown Laurel and owned by Stephen and Deshawn Clairmont who moved back to Laurel in 2012 and aided in the revitalization of this Historic town.

PRIVATE COTTAGE The main house was featured on the hit HGTV show "Home Town" the 1st year. It was a "Comp Home." After it was featured, the Producer of the "Home Town" show loved the house so much, she rented it for several months. After I purchased it, they reached out to me about doing a home remodel... I absolutely love the Main House's charm. I did invest a lot of time, energy and money making The Cottage a comfortable getaway. Near the heart of town ~ close to everything; within easy walking distance of Mason Memorial Park BACK YARD Shrubbery and Trees have been strategically planted to offer privacy in the heart of town, some beautiful flowers always seem to be blooming, hummingbirds are often seen. ONE & 1/2 BATHS The main floor has a full bath; but don't worry about a late night to the main level bath in the middle of the night. The 2nd floor has a very convenient 1/2 bath. STARTER SUPPLIES Cleaning Fee pays for starter supplies. When you arrive, there will be at least a full roll of toilet paper, a roll of paper towel, a liner in each trash can, some hand soap, some dish washing detergent,... and some coffee filters. The DVD Player is connected to the internet... and the TV has Antenna. Hosts Netflix account is connected to this Smart DVD player and a special Cottage Guest folder just for you is set up. If you’ve got any premium apps, you should be able to use them on this smart DVD players. ??FURNISHINGS: Cottage has more furnishings than noted before, but these are worth mentioning: LARGE TABLE For dining or working with 5 chairs and if needed more chairs can be provided 1 QUEEN SOFA SLEEPER & MATCHING CHAIR The Queen sofa sleeper bed is not made; fresh bedding (2 pillows, set of sheets, quilt or blanket) is left when the count is 3 or more. ??CLIMATE/COMFORT: AC / HEAT LOWER & UPPER LEVELS Each level has a AC Window unit and each level has a mini-split AC/Heater unit on it. The mini-splits were recently added and should handle all the heating & cooling needs of the Cottage, however the already existing AC window units were left just in case. ADDITIONAL HEATERS As the mini-split heater systems are heat-pumps, they may not provide all the heat my guests may want, so in addition, I’ve provide 2 portable, extremely safe, heaters. 1 a radiator style, heated oil, heater and the other one of those Radiating “new style Energy-Efficient” heat boxes (they can be seen in photos). Below 30 degrees, with these 3 added heaters going, the mini-split heaters are not even needed to make the Cottage toasty. CONTINUOUS HOT WATER The Cottage is equipped with an amazing continuous hot water heating system. Whether one person or five, shower as long as you want and each of you will have hot water. ??KITCHEN APPLIANCES & INFO: REFRIGERATOR New Stainless steel large refrigerator is provided CONVECTION / MICROWAVE OVEN Is both a Convection Oven and Microwave... an $800 plus amenity, that also acts as a range hood providing light and venting when cooking underneath on either the: 1. NuWAVE INDUCTION COOK-TOP and 2. COPPER ELECTRIC FRYING PAN: Between the Convection Oven, Microwave, and these two cooking appliance, all your cooking needs should be met... as there is no conventional stove/cook top or range. COOKING / EATING EQUIPMENT You should find the basic. Take a look at the photos. If you think anything is lacking, let me know. If its reasonable, I’d be happy to add it to the Cottage’s inventory. Oh yes there is a Coffee Maker. ??COTTAGE UP GRADES: NEW KITCHEN Not just new appliances, but new Cabinets, counters, sink, and faucet. HARDWOOD FLOORS All recently redone, sanded and freshly coat of polyurethane. There is some extensive scaring on the 1st floor’s hardwood flooring, after polyurethane, I leaned in to it and bought cabinets mimicked the floors adding some character. WOOD WALLS The Walls were covered in cheese cloth and wall paper (what where they thinking ?? in the 70’s?) which has all been carefully pealed bare to reveal tongue and groove beautiful wood. ??BATHROOMS: MAIN FLOOR BATHROOM Along with starter supplies, You’ll also find 5 or more bath towels, a few wash clothes, a shower mat, & blow dryer. This is a FULL bathroom, with Shower/Tub, Toilet, and sink. UPSTAIRS BATH Along with starter supplies, You'll find some hand towels. This is a HALF bathroom, with vanity, sink, & Toilet. ??BEDDING / TOWELS Is provided for the number of people booked. Unless Guest tells us otherwise, it is assumed: - the 1st 2 people booked will sleep in the queen bed on 2nd floor - the next 3rd & 4th person will be in the queen sofa sleeper on the main floor ??UPSTAIRS: STAIRS I’m 5’6” and have no problem going up and down these stairs, however, for someone a little taller, they may need to watch there head, at one, just one, low spot on stairs, near the lower level, before it opens up. The stairs are carpeted. CHILD SAFETY: At lower level, there is door (in case privacy is needed from those up or down or if wee ones need to be blocked from climbing stairs). There is no childproof gate at the top of the stairs. Inquire about how we've solved this in the past. ??2ND LEVEL/BEDROOM AREA: There is 1 closet (w/hangers), an ottoman, dresser, TV/smart DVD (as described above, and standing lamp). Whether for business or pleasure, its always nice to stay somewhere, where there are room darkening curtains.... you’ve just got to remember to close them. QUEEN BED and comes with Bedding; Mattress is Tuff & Needles. MAIN HOUSE When in Laurel, I call the Main House Home; although it does double as a Short Term Rental, sleeping up to 9 people (although its never rented to more than 5 at this posting), It has in 2 Kings, 2 Fulls, 1 futon with 2.5 Baths. If you need more room than the Cottage can provide, please inquire. SWIMMING POOL Is covered mid October to mid April. Booked Guests (Main house & cottage) are welcome to enjoy the swimming with signed release and agreeing to follow pool rules. Need access? Inquiry. PARKING AREA 3 Parking spots, 1 is assigned to the Cottage/2 to the Main House. Need more? There is plenty of street parking. CHILDREN Are permitted, but with the understanding that gates surround the property and the cottage. There is no gate separating the child from the pool once in the gated area. In the winter this may not be an issue, as (unless work is planned) a pool cover is over the pool... so safe a child could almost walk across the covered pool, but in summer, spring and fall, its a few steps from the front of the cottage into the pool. Parents will need to be diligent.... so its NOT recommended for small children with distracted parents. The deck area is fairly private, and a good place for morning coffee or a quiet evening time to reflect. It's also a great place to grill out! It is located just off Interstate 59 half way between Meridian, Mississippi and Laurel, Mississippi. The property is just 22 minutes from Hwy 45 which is a direct corridor to the beach! From this property you are about an hour and a half to Biloxi, MS. The house has a large fenced in back yard for pets and children to play. In addition to the screened porch it has 2 outdoor decks. It has a very large yard area with 2 fire pits and a picnic table, there is a pond with bass, bluegill, turtles, and other beautiful water creatures. You can fish and swim and use our 2 kayaks for exploring the pond and the mini island. There are 4 pastures with 10 cows, 3 donkeys, and 3 horses, chickens, ducks and cats also live on the property. There are blueberries and black berries seasonally available for personal delight, and if camping is your thing you will surely find a beautiful spot to stargaze and listen to the frogs and crickets at night. The home itself can be rented as a full house or also rented out by the room for smaller groups for any number of nights. The caretakers of the property are always nearby and ready to help you with anything that you may need, including massages and personal yoga sessions! The Lakehouse on Acorn Ridge sits on 180 acres of private land and is the only home on on Dreamstrike Lake.
